"Beautiful"

Enjoy the Metamorphosis of this Monarch captured from the very moment it's egg was laid by the female Monarch on Milkweed. This is a experience that should be witnessed by everyone. I had two very special Kindergarten classes follow this experience through photographs. Once the Monarch butterfly emerged from chrysalis, they voted and named it "Beautiful" I think they picked a perfect name. "Beautiful" was tagged and released for the journey to Mexico!

A special Thank you to these students and to their Wonderful Teacher! The experience wouldn't of been the same without their involvement.

Lifecycle of "Beautiful"

Host plants are the food plants required for the caterpillar to survive. Without Milkweed, we would have no Monarchs!

Milkweed (Asclepias)

blue and sand vine (both Cynanchum)

A Special Thank you goes out to Susan Meyers from Monarchs Across GA, she has not only been a great friend she also has been very helpful. Thank you Susan for introducing me to "Caterpillers of Eastern North America" By David L. Wagner.  This book has been very helpful. The best Caterpillar reference Book I have read! Thank you also Susan for all the work you and your Organization does with children and Supporting our stunning Monarch's!
